Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for the financial systems and accounting operations at the Ursuline campus in Pepper Pike, OH. The Controller is a strategic thinker and collaborator who manages day-to-day finance operations and prepares, analyzes, and interprets financial data for management, control, planning and forecasting purposes. The Controller is a key contributor to the improvement of business processes including the integration of technological solutions with operational processes. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission. Essential Functions
Lead all activities of the Business Office to ensure effective financial operations. Develop, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen financial management and reporting. Direct and supervise daily accounting services including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and grant accounting. Responsible for managing daily cash flow. Maximizes return on short-term investments by analyzing weekly reports and timing withdrawals and sweeps accordingly. Secures competitive rates and services. Prepare and review journal entries, financial statements, and reconciliations. Oversee student billing processes including payment plans, tuition deferments, and third-party invoicing; collaborate with Financial Aid to resolve student financial concerns. Manage vendor and banking relationships; ensure proper approval and coding of invoices and purchase orders. Administer college credit card programs. Ensures compliance and timely reporting of regulatory filings and reports (IRS Forms 1099, 1098T, 1042S, ACA, Worker's Compensation, NCAA reporting, etc.). Coordinate annual financial audits and assist in the preparation of IRS Form 990. Provide financial data to support budget development, forecasting, and annual IPEDS reporting. Serve as a liaison to external partners including auditors, banks, and investment advisors. Lead the Workday implementation for the Finance Office at the Ursuline campus. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and provide leadership and mentorship to staff. Required Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting, taxes, and investment management. Proficiency with ERP systems for comparable or larger sized institutions and Microsoft Office. Demonstrated effectiveness as a supervisor. Verifiable four-year business degree from an accredited institution and a CPA preferred. Education
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a related field required. Experience
Seven to ten years of experience in positions of increasing fiscal responsibility, preferably in higher education, along with five years of supervisory experience. Strong leadership, communication, and supervisory skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high standards of accuracy. University Mission

CPA preferred; MBA with a concentration in finance preferred. Physical Demands
