Responsibilities
Write, lay out in Adobe InDesign, and edit high‑quality proposals, statements of qualifications, and letters of interest, coordinating with project managers across the company.
Evaluate proposal content to determine that it adheres to RFP requirements/evaluation criteria and addresses strategies and intel developed during pre‑positioning, write/edit proposal content, and independently evaluate and clarify client requests prior to submitting materials.
Coordinate and direct the efforts of both professional and support personnel, including scheduling resources needed during the proposal process, coordinating production schedules, and delivery/distribution of proposals.
Follow cradle‑to‑grave protocols for proposals, including entering data into project/proposal databases.
Work with marketing staff, project managers, and/or project teams to develop presentations to prospective and existing clients, coordinate with graphic designers to produce presentations, oversee the final production of presentation materials (PowerPoint, boards, etc.) and handouts.
Gather and organize detailed information to populate and maintain company data systems, including photography, resumes, project descriptions, pricing information, client quotations, and standard proposal content.
Participate in business development strategy and meetings and apply strategies to proposal and SOQ development, support client relationships and pursuit pre‑positioning by working with technical staff and our MarCom group to produce unsolicited SOQs, assist with conferences and events, develop targeted social media, etc.
Edit/proofread miscellaneous letters, reports, and other materials.
Coordinate project photography.
Tailor materials to meet client needs.
Create print and electronic/interactive marketing materials such as brochures, PowerPoint presentations, advertisements, trade‑show materials, award submittals, etc.
Participate in business and community activities that promote Horrocks services.
Work with other Marketing Leaders and Corporate Marketing Team to implement department‑wide initiatives and procedures. Mentor and/or manage staff.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or equivalent.
10+ years of experience writing proposals in the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) field.
Intermediate to expert skills in Adobe InDesign and Creative Suite.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to:
Take accountability for projects and meet deadlines.
Give and receive feedback in a humble, constructive way.
Work well in a fast‑paced environment that requires flexibility, ownership, time management, and focus.
