Responsibilities
Coordinate, analyze, evaluate, verify, and award financial aid specific to loan aggregates, discharge loans, bankruptcy, and financial literacy in accordance with federal, state, and university policies.
Coordinate the daily functions of loan aggregates, discharge loans, bankruptcy, and financial literacy; act as liaison between federal government processors to resolve issues; counsel applicants, students, their agents, and departmental representatives on eligibility, packages, disbursement, and financial literacy; interpret rules from internal and external sources; initiate actions to resolve student issues; apply knowledge of private educational loans, federal direct loans, and federal PLUS/PLUG loans as they relate to loan aggregates, discharge loans, bankruptcy, and financial literacy; provide backup support to Federal Work processing during high volumes.
Authorize the processing of disbursements and audit awards of direct student loans, PLUS loans, private educational loans, and other financial aid in accordance with university methodology and state and federal regulations; analyze student financial aid data and verify manual and systematic disbursement of awards; interpret financial aid rules and policies as needed.
Conduct statistical research on loan aggregate limits for undergraduate and graduate students; counsel and advise students on financial literacy and loan repayment; advise military/veteran students regarding Federal and/or private loan programs to ensure all Title IV requirements are met.
Develop and implement internal audit procedures related to loan aggregates, discharge loans, bankruptcy, and financial literacy to ensure compliance with federal, state, and university requirements; analyze financial aid data to validate and confirm accuracy of reports.
Recommend and formulate policies and procedures to effectively administer financial aid related to federal and private student loans; assist with coordinating student financial programs and other sections during peak times to support the Office of Financial Aid goals.
Qualifications Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience preferred.
Detail-oriented candidates with strong initiative.
Excellent computer, verbal, and written communications skills.
Ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and follow through on assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work well independently and in a team.
Experience in financial aid/financial literacy, customer service, advising, or one-on-one work in a professional setting.
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing; ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks.

Anticipated Salary Range The anticipated salary for this position is around $44,056.80 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
