The Sr. Accountant will support the Controller in developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving allocations and transactions; reconciling accounts; preparing journal entries; maintaining schedules; performing cost allocations; conducting variance analysis. This role is integral to the timely completion of period end closing processes. This role is responsible for working with the Controller to maintain accurate and complete financial records, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience in accounting software conversion and maintenance. Responsibilities also include assisting with tax preparation and participating in audits. Essential Functions: Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end processes to ensure accurate and timely completion of revenues, expenses, related accruals, prepaids, and other ledger accounts. Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper documentation and resolution of outstanding items. Assist in managing the month-end process for assigned business units, including posting recurring journal entries, month-end accruals, and reconciling offset accounts. Analyze financial information to understand business unit trends and key performance indicators, addressing variances before financial statement publication. Assist in training accounting staff to ensure high-quality, timely work. Generate journal entries for annual expenses, such as insurance accounts and lease payment reclassifications. Support annual financial statement reviews, tax returns, audits, and related PBC items. Participate in budgeting and monitoring processes. Perform other accounting duties and support junior staff as required or assigned. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance. 4+ years of Accounting experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Leadership qualities and ability. Highly detail-oriented and organized. Inquisitive nature with a desire to increase knowledge and understanding. Ability to prioritize and meet assigned deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction. Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office applications, and accounting ERP software. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.
