Budget Analyst
to provide sound financial stewardship, expert analysis, and innovative approaches to our NASA client in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires full onsite presence. Responsibilities Serve as an analyst to integrate business, cost estimating, and financial management processes to ensure the efficient stewardship of public funds Prepare financial reports and documents; demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication Collaborate with Principal Investigators, management, and large science/resource teams, including virtual interactions Work independently with minimal guidance and maintain confidentiality Provide strategic budget analysis to inform decision makers with information, ideas, solutions, and options for budget planning and execution Monitor and track budgets, prepare phasing plans, PPBE submissions, cost analyses, and recommend changes and process improvements Review and present budget and workforce status with variance explanations, impacts, solutions, and improvement recommendations Maintain project budgets, conduct cost analyses, and develop phasing plans for major research projects using data analytics tools as applicable Understand the proposal rate structure and process; assist in preparing cost proposals for Principal Investigators Collaborate with NASA Headquarters resource personnel to understand processes, resolve discrepancies, and provide required financial information Qualifications 4+ years of specialized experience in budget analysis or related field Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze financial data using advanced tools Proficient in MS Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint Knowledge of automated financial systems and budgetary report generation Preferred Skills Experience with SAP and Business Objects or other accounting systems Experience developing cost proposals for Principal Investigators Federal government financial processes Power BI experience Education BA/BS degree preferred Company Information MDW Associates, established in 2012, is a small business headquartered in McLean, VA with offices in Huntsville, AL.
