Support the plant controller in directing accounting support to the production facility; responsibilities include cost accounting, inventory control, accounts payable, payroll, billing, and preparation of plant financial and other control reports. Support the maintenance of manufacturing, inventory and finished goods ledgers and cost accounting activities. Compile and analyze operating performance reports; prepare and analyze unusual items on financial reports. Participate in plant management meetings and core product review meetings; assist in preparing materials for meetings; support operations improvement activities; provide SAP, ADC and other related system training and support; identify opportunities that contribute beyond traditional scope; work with purchasing and maintenance to reduce inventory balances and free up capital. Responsible for the protection of company assets; ensure inventory results and balances are reconciled and valued accurately per policy; ensure SOX compliance and annual internal auditing; administer Internal Orders (capital and expense projects); adhere to GAAP; audit payroll distribution and review general ledger accounts for consistency and accuracy on a monthly basis. Administer bill of materials audits and corrections; manage BOM creation/deletion; distribute material and labor variances to plant personnel; report variances monthly; monitor slow-moving inventory; engage on the production floor to understand processes; record general ledger entries by the first preliminary cutoff. Communicate with staff, manage performance, develop staff, cross-train, and manage overtime. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 3 years of professional accounting experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience leading by training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or managing a process or project. Knowledge of accounting software, inventory software, manufacturing software, and Microsoft Office; advanced Excel including Pivot Tables and analytical tools. Strong leadership, cost accounting knowledge, and attention to detail. SAP experience preferred. Ability to travel up to 10% and work well in a fast-paced environment; strong communication and teamwork skills. Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide leadership and guidance to employees in the Accounting Department; supervise and develop staff in accordance with company policies and applicable laws; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, and addressing employee relations. Work Environment & Physical Demands
Most time spent in an office setting outside of the production plant; potential exposure to plant environment conditions including chemicals and moving parts. Moderate to loud noise in production areas; may require lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally; sedentary work with occasional movement.
