The role in a nutshell As a
Senior Accountant , you will play a key role in building out the accounting processes of Octaura. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this is a hands-on role with a blend of accounting and operational duties, responsible for monthly close, revenue recognition, AP, AR, and documenting accounting processes. The role will collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Operations, and People. The role presents an amazing opportunity to build and improve accounting and finance processes with tools, automation, and AI.
This role is based out of our NYC office and current structure is 4 days in the office, 1 day from home.
Core responsibilities
Monthly accounting close, management reporting processes, calculating and recording revenues and expenses according to GAAP
Timely issuance of monthly invoices, recording payments and accounts receivable
Process AP payments and record cash postings and bank reconciliations
Prepare general journal entries in accordance with department policy, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly adjustments
Prepare broker/dealer filings, net capital calculations, and different analyses
Assist in documenting and maintaining accounting process documentation and internal controls
Assist with annual external audit
Assist with departmental and organization ad-hoc analysis and projects
Qualifications
3+ years of accounting and/or audit experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
Time management, deadline-oriented, and attention to detail
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of management, including employees across departments
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
CPA is a plus
Broker dealer/net capital experience is highly preferred
FINRA Series 27/28 is a plus
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with working accounting systems and finance tools such as NetSuite, Ramp, Rippling, Carta, HubSpot, and PowerBI
Compensation The base pay range for this position in New York is $90,000 - $120,000 annually. Pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Equity and year-end bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
