Under general supervision, responsible for planning, organizing, and executing professional-level accounting tasks in connection with the maintenance and monitoring of financial operations. Performs a wide variety of accounting functions to include full cycle accounting practices. Job Description
Under general supervision, responsible for planning, organizing, and executing professional-level accounting tasks in connection with the maintenance and monitoring of financial operations. Performs a wide variety of accounting functions to include full cycle accounting practices.
Hyrbid schedule
Responsibilities
Analyzes payroll reports and results, along with other team members, to ensure accuracy and compliance. Processes retroactive salary cost transfers based on requests received from departments. With supervision, ensures timely and accurate reporting of payroll tax obligations. Initiates payments for both federal and state tax withholdings and prepares monthly and quarterly state withholding tax reconciliations. Prepares for review and submission state withholding tax returns and assists with preparation of Federal 941quarterly tax returns. Maintains accounting integrity and financial security by following internal controls. Records and manages journal entries for state and federal taxes as well as other miscellaneous payroll liability accounts. Collaborates with department financial representatives to address payroll related inquires including payroll posting to general ledger accounts. Assists with preparation of various year end audit reconciliations and requests. Reports actions for decision-making purposes within the authority and scope of responsibilities. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge and application of full-cycle accounting principles, concepts, practices, and procedures. Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. Strong analytical ability requiring evaluation, originality and ingenuity. Ability to learn industry related management systems. Ability to prioritize, work independently, and complete tasks within deadlines. Sound time management and organizational skills. Ability to exercise tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. Proficiency in applicable software programs including Microsoft Office.
Educations
Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance is required.
Experience
Two (2) years related experience is required. Oracle or other payroll software experience preferred.

- Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
Time Off
- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
