Role Summary

This role serves as the main financial liaison and supervises all financial activities related to the Grant Financial Management Program within the Department. It also manages accounts receivable, oversees revenue reporting and analysis for the entire Department, and handles special accounting projects as required. The role offers opportunities to collaborate across multiple departments and gain insight into various facets of the agency through grant-related work, including coordinating special projects to support strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

Communicates with the Grants Administrator to discuss grant budgets, indirect costs, and discrepancies related to grant expenditures or reimbursement requests.

Prepare Monthly Revenue Reports.

Bill the Department’s monthly Accounts Receivable.

Apply knowledge in Excel and perform data tracking and reporting to support programs.

Support independent thinking and collaboration with the Accounts Payable and Special Project Director; the CFO.

Support grants-related activities and cross-department coordination as needed.

Qualifications

Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR

An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution is 120 semester hours (up to four years).

Position Details Appointment Type:

PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.

An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to permanent promotion.

This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as temporary, conversion to a probational appointment may occur if a permanent position becomes available.

Compensation This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. Salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Accountant 1 SER: $21.63 per hour

Accountant 2 SER: $23.14 per hour

Accountant 3 SER: $26.50 per hour

Accountant 4 SER: $30.35 per hour

Career Progression Group ACCOUNTANT 1, 2, 3, or 4. Salary depends on level of experience.

Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.

Other Important Information
