Responsibilities

As a

Risk Specialist

with Berkley Oil & Gas, you will be expected to ensure that the high standards of our risk services organization are promoted and maintained.

You will provide technical advice and account information to underwriters for risk assessment and analysis for the purpose of insuring oil & gas and renewable energy accounts.

Conduct physical visits and virtual surveys of oil & gas and renewable energy operations.

Complete risk assessment surveys at client locations and jobsites to identify potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in the underwriting process and consult with customers to help prevent and mitigate insured losses.

Write detailed risk evaluation reports that provide a technical assessment of risk, address the safety culture and effectiveness of risk management controls, provide meaningful recommendations and consult with management to improve where needed.

Maintain strong internal communication and build relationships with underwriting and claims, senior leadership, and other Risk Services staff.

Develop strong external communication with brokers/agents and customers to create long-term business relationships through successful renewals.

Serve as a technical resource to underwriters, claims handlers, and managers with expertise in oil & gas and renewable energy operations; conduct research on emerging issues and participate in relevant industry groups.

Work directly with customers on ways to control hazards to reduce or prevent losses.

Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and evolving safety and risk management practices.

Analyze loss trends and identify opportunities to provide risk control products and/or services to reduce losses.

Demonstrate strong problem solving, critical thinking and time management skills.

Maintain timely, relevant communications with underwriters, the Vice President of Risk Services, and the President of Berkley Oil & Gas / Berkley Renewable Energy.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of the oil & gas and renewable energy agency community and territory is a plus.

5+ years of experience with oil & gas and renewable energy, including exposure to oil & gas, wind, solar, geothermal, biofuel, battery storage and other emerging sources of renewable energy service contractors and producers.

Strong oral and written communication skills; effective listening abilities.

Analytical skills to critically assess risks, exposures, and hazards.

Marketing skills to participate in new/renewal business development; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to create/modify documents and complex spreadsheets.

Travel: Requires a minimum of 40% overnight travel and frequent day trips (company truck provided).
