Overview
Director, Construction Technology Programs — 12-month, full-time instructional staff position located primarily at the Tyson Family Center for Technology in Monroe, NC. Responsibilities
Mentor, coordinate, and facilitate faculty to carry out the vision, mission, and goals of the School of Applied Technical Programs and the College. Maintain a climate of open communication, collegiality, and teamwork; support faculty professional growth and development. Ensure quality learning opportunities for students; act as first line of support for student complaints and grievances. Teach, develop curriculum, assign faculty, schedule courses, conduct program review, assess student learning outcomes, advise and schedule students, and support professional development and institutional service. Supervise full-time and adjunct instructors in Construction Technology Programs (HVAC-R, Electrical Systems, Plumbing, Construction Management). Serve as liaison among students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community; collaborate across college functions to engage business, industry, and community partners for curriculum and non-credit programs meeting workforce needs in Union and Anson counties. Support curriculum development, curriculum review, and ensure program currency and alignment with accreditation, licensing, and workforce standards. Carry an instructional load of 30 hours over an academic year (fall, spring, summer); maintain current industry credentials relevant to teaching areas. Engage in grant prospecting, authoring, editing, evaluation, and reporting; participate in committees and community activities; recruit and retain students. Lead advisory committees and cultivate partnerships with community stakeholders to advance programs and institutional goals. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Business and Workforce Solutions and the Vice President of Business & Workforce Solutions. Required Qualifications
Minimum of: Option A: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 12+ years of progressively responsible full-time experience in the construction trades (including supervisory experience) and possession of one or more current, industry-recognized credentials in construction or a related field. Option B: Associate degree with 10+ years of progressively responsible full-time experience in the construction trades (including supervisory experience) and possession of one or more current, industry-recognized credentials in construction or a related field. Acceptable credentials include NCCER Certified Instructor, NC General Contractor License, Electrical or Plumbing License, EPA 608 Certification, or equivalent. Strong technical expertise in residential, commercial, or industrial construction practices. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Proficiency with office technology and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field. At least 2 years of teaching or training experience in construction trades. Supervisory or program management experience. Familiarity with a course management system (e.g., Canvas). Budget management and program development experience. Experience working with advisory boards and industry partnerships. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and leadership skills. Application Details
