Information Technology Specialist (Server Virtualization and Storage Administrator)
The Information Technology Specialist role is responsible for managing the virtualization infrastructure, storage systems, and associated technologies within the organization. This role ensures optimal performance, availability, and security of server virtualization platforms and storage solutions.
Responsibilities
Providing support for all IT systems including day-to-day operations and problem resolution.
Assist in the support of core banking platform.
Configure, deploy, and manage virtual machines (VMs) using platforms such as Hyper‑V and VMware.
Monitor VM performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
Troubleshoot virtualization‑related issues and optimize VM performance.
Administer Storage Area Network (SAN) systems.
Provision storage resources for servers and applications.
Implement data replication, snapshots, and backup strategies.
Develop disaster recovery (DR) plans and test failover procedures.
Ensure data integrity and business continuity.
Apply security best practices to virtualization and storage environments.
Manage access controls, permissions, and encryption.
Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Participate in cross‑functional projects and initiatives.
Evaluate and recommend hardware upgrades or replacements.
Forecast storage requirements based on business growth, and plan for scalability and expansion.
Evaluate new technologies and trends in virtualization and storage.
Other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or proven equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 2-4+ years professional IT experience.
Knowledge of backup server software (e.g., Veeam).
Familiarity with enterprise storage protocols (SMB/CIFS/NFS/iSCSI).
Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
Storage certifications (e.g., EMC).
Hands‑on experience with storage arrays (e.g., EMC).
Proficiency in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
Knowledge of server hardware and RAID configurations.
Strong time management skills in technical environments and project management.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
