Senior Associate, Cyber Product Owner (Cloud Platform Security). Capital One is seeking a product owner to help deliver cybersecurity solutions based on threat, data, and design thinking. We are a technology-oriented company delivering financial products to market through modern technology and constant innovation at a massive scale. As a Product Owner supporting the Cloud Platform Security service area, you will contribute to and deliver upon the strategic agenda for core cyber products, driving meaningful progress for customers and the business. You will translate vision into delivery objectives, provide customer-informed guidance to shape products, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable features. You will use technical knowledge and subject matter expertise in cybersecurity and systems engineering to drive improvements to cyber capabilities. What you’ll do Communicate the delivery roadmap to technology teams by inspiring the team through the product vision Clearly articulate and advocate target personas, customer benefits, and feature value across teams Leverage technical knowledge of how systems work and how code is built to support engineering teams in delivering value Utilize cybersecurity background and customer insights to represent the voice of the customer to engineering teams Apply design thinking and analytics to inform product design Participate in research or design sessions for new features Contribute to a healthy product backlog, collaborating with the Product Manager, Engineering, and Solution Architects to break down epics, document user stories (including technical debt, SRE, etc.), design details, and acceptance criteria Lead internal backlog refinement to align cyber and customer intent and prepare business epics and stories for technical breakdown and planning Prioritize the product backlog to maximize business and customer outcomes while balancing technical and non-technical factors and incorporating cyber and operational risk reduction Act as a technical advisor to the product manager, engineering, and other stakeholders Collaborate across cross-functional teams and participate in Agile and SAFe ceremonies Support teams through escalation and resolution of impediments Drive performance and innovation with data-driven insights Proactively identify opportunities when key metrics for security, resilience, and performance are not meeting expectations Maintain technical and risk credibility with teams and partners across the technology organization About you You believe security should enable the business and solutions should align to developers, customers, and business partners You thrive in a fast-paced, forward-leaning environment and push security boundaries You seek to deliver reusable, extensible, and resilient cybersecurity capabilities You actively solve cyber technical challenges in collaboration with engineering You are curious and stay on top of emerging threats You understand iterative software delivery and can connect with software and platform engineers You understand business and technology landscapes and dependencies to inform product vision and integration with organizational goals You are a clear thinker, comfortable working across teams and navigating ambiguity You track key metrics on security, resilience, and performance and understand levers to improve them You have strong consulting, analytical, and risk management skills You foster collaborative working relationships with technology partners and stakeholders You exercise balanced judgment and consider risk factors in decisions You have a strong bias for action Basic Qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent At least 1.5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information technology At least 1 year of experience in product management At least 1 year of experience in project management Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science 2+ years of experience solving cyber technical challenges 2+ years of experience translating business strategy into products 1+ years of Cyber product owner experience 1+ years of experience in technical writing 1+ years of stakeholder management 1+ years of hands-on JIRA experience Experience in regulated financial services organizations or tech companies 1+ professional certifications (SAFe PM/PO, CISSP, GIAC, CISM, CCSP, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Security) Additional information At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization, or offer immigration-related support for this position.
