Overview

Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor (PFC) provides coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations resulting from military needs. Primary responsibilities include delivering the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations, including education, counseling, briefings, and referrals as needed. Works with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure services are provided within scope and meet installation needs. Responsibilities

Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences. Develop and make available informational financial materials. Coordinate, publicize and deliver a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, personal and career events per DoDI 1322.34). Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, or secure video teleconference). Virtual PFC support may require approval by OSD FINRED Program office. Manage duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues from assigned installations. Participate in regular in-services/training and quality improvement activities as assigned. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications

3+ years of financial counseling experience. Bachelor's degree required; may consider an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract. Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation. Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). General Information

Specific requirements: Financial Counseling prior experience required or equivalent. Salary Range: $53,125 - $84,995 (base). This information reflects the anticipated base salary range and may vary by location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
