Description Our client is currently seeking an Assistant Controller for a full‑time position. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for all areas relating to general ledger and financial reporting for the US business. This position will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely publishing of internal and external financial statements. The Assistant Controller will supervise the accounting staff and manage the team to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. The role addresses tight deadlines and numerous accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, working capital management, pre‑acquisition evaluation, post‑acquisition integration, year‑end audit preparation, and support of budget and forecast activities.

Responsibilities

Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes and financial reporting, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled on a timely basis.

Perform P&L analytics monthly with comparatives to prior year and budgets; identify and communicate any areas of concern.

Collaborate with other department managers to support overall department goals and advise regarding the handling of non‑routine transactions.

Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Assist Global Controller with the annual audit in coordination with an independent CPA firm.

Oversee and support federal and state income tax workpaper preparation, acting as the Company’s SME for sales & use tax and supporting the preparation of tax payments and other compliance required filings including tax registration maintenance.

Assist the Global Controller in accounting for M&A transactions and integrating acquisitions.

Assist Global Controller in maintaining controls over plant and corporate spending, and monitoring expenditures related to budget.

Oversee and support the preparation of US budgets, cash flow projections, annual forms as required, site level cost variance analysis, BOM and standard cost setup and maintenance.

Administer and support the preparation of other site level activities as the business requires as it relates to cost, production, management reports, journal entries, month‑end reporting.

Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls while continuously improving accounting processes to eliminate waste and shorten close processes, including the training and leadership of the US Finance team.

Establish challenging goals for self, finance staff, and management of company, monitor results and coach others on actions to achieve results.

Support Global Controller with special projects.

Additional responsibilities and projects as assigned in support of business objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in accounting required.

CPA or MBA preferred.

At least 5+ years of accounting experience.

In‑depth understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Strong ERP skills (LucaNet and Syteline experience a plus).

Highly proficient in current computer software: MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Experience in budgeting, standard cost rate development, general ledger/accounting, management reporting, variance analysis, payroll tax, sales tax reporting, and general business issues.

Experience working for private equity‑owned, multi‑national, manufacturing organization.

Experience with post‑acquisition integration a plus.

Able to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, evaluate options, and implement solutions.

Strong management/leadership skills; able to lead people and get results through others; extreme dependability, reliability, and confidentiality.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ensuring error‑free documents and effective interaction with internal and external contacts.

Able to follow verbal and written instructions, directions, and other communication in English.

Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple and diverse projects including analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision making, creativity in presenting options, and accurately carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision.

Able to perform in a fast‑paced environment, while responding to change favorably and quickly.
