Security Engineer II, Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations (VMR Operations) – Austin, TX Amazon develops products and services that transform the way customers live. The Stores Security team assesses risk, classifies data and systems, detects potential intrusion, and responds quickly to security events across Amazon’s critical business functions, including Retail, Customer Service, Worldwide Operations, Consumer Payments, Physical Stores, and Healthcare. The VMR Operations organization is responsible for all aspects of the Vulnerability Management lifecycle across Amazon, including intake, assessment, discovery, and remediation. VMR Operations is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join the team to discover, assess, triage, detect, and drive remediation of vulnerabilities across the Amazon ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Create and launch campaigns at scale while maintaining a high security and quality bar.

Deeply understand and assess the technical details and potential impact of security campaigns across Amazon’s infrastructure, services, and applications; reduce manual remediation and builder toil through automation and paved path solutions.

Work with security teams to identify preventative security measures to address current and future risk.

Design and implement automation, tools, and workflows to enhance operations capabilities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP

5 years of experience and deep knowledge of vulnerabilities, exploits and vulnerability management systems; experience building applications or systems on cloud-based services

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with AWS products and services

Experience with threat modeling, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security

5+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar OO language

3 years experience troubleshooting networking, operating systems, applications, or cloud services

3 years experience building cloud-based services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year to $212,800/year, plus equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits as part of a total compensation package.
