Overview

Technician II, Instrumentation and Controls role at Novartis. The Technician II, Instrumentation and Controls performs calibration and maintenance repair activities on production and facilities instrumentation for our Manufacturing facility. Responsibilities

Calibration and repair or replacement of defective or faulty instruments on machines and related equipment ensuring good workmanship with minimum delay. Perform a wide range of calibration and maintenance repair activities to instrument systems and components of laboratory equipment, production equipment, central utilities and building management systems. Troubleshoot problems in the event of instrument failure and be able to recommend parts needed for the effective repair. Assist manufacturing and facilities personnel in troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis on process and utility equipment. Must be able to perform with no instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Completion of an Instrumentation or Industrial Electronics (2-year) curriculum at a technical school, Military PMEL training and 4 years in manufacturing process instrumentation and control and/or analytical instrumentation or a closely related job and 1 year of GMP. Considerable knowledge of the fundamental operating principles of industrial process instrumentation and systems. Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and P&IDs. Good understanding of GMPs with experience in pharmaceutical environment. Familiarity with PLC and DCS control systems and instrumentation buss technologies. Ability to work with very minimum supervision. Team player willing to learn from others and train entry level personnel. Computer skill utilizing MS Office suite applications. Basic knowledge of control system programming. Basic knowledge of CMMS systems and architecture. Must be willing to work in clean room environments. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Location and Schedule

Location: Durham, NC. This is a full-time onsite role. Shift: Monday – Friday first shift. Novartis is unable to offer relocation support; please only apply if this location is accessible. Company will not sponsor visas for this position. Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is expected to range between $33.65 and $62.50 per hour. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like relevant skills and experience, and will be reviewed periodically. Compensation may include a performance-based cash incentive and eligibility for annual equity awards. US-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package including health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a generous time off package including vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.
