Indeed, the Neonatal Nutrition Technician works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and is responsible for the storage, preparation, and packaging of expressed breast milk and formulas for individual NICU patients. What you will do in this role
Generates labels, measures expressed breast milk (EBM)/formula, calculates additives and fills feeding orders for a 24-hour period, according to physician order Responds to patients’ and nurses’ needs and requests appropriately Practices safety measures when preparing milk for the patients Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste (of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care Acts as an advocate for and strives to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient Interacts with patients and colleagues with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by social, economic, or cultural differences Communicates effectively with other care providers to provide for continuity of patient care and meet the needs of the customers we serve Demonstrates attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping practices Exhibits a positive attitude, personal initiative and motivation to achieve unit goals Upholds the standards of the profession and organization and practices ethically and with integrity Other duties as assigned What qualifications you will need
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date At The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, our care philosophy is Woman First.
