About Us: St. Anne's Family Services is dedicated to transforming lives and communities. We provide support to families from pregnancy to parenthood and childhood to adulthood. We are seeking a Health Educator to join our team and be a vital part of this mission.
About the Program The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program is an Early Head Start and Head Start program that serves children birth to 5 years old and their families. Our program supports school readiness by focusing on health, mental health, nutrition, family engagement and social/emotional development. All Early Childhood Education services are free to eligible families.
Role Summary As a Child & Family Services Advocate within St. Anne’s Early Childhood Education department, you will directly impact young children (0-5 years) and their families. You will promote family wellness, parent engagement, and support the implementation of the family partnership process. You will act as a liaison between classroom and home settings and travel between the Main Office and Early Childhood Education centers in Los Angeles and Lynwood as needed. Home visits may occur; mileage reimbursement is offered for travel.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Health team, other departments, and families to individualize and support children's health services, including postpartum and newborn home visits.
Provide health education to parents and education staff; inform families of pending health assessment requirements.
Liaise with medical and dental providers to obtain exams, follow-ups, and documentation for health conditions, medication administration, and other health-related concerns.
Conduct classroom observations, file reviews, and data entry into Child Plus; maintain accurate records and inventory of health supplies.
Coordinate with the Department of Public Health during outbreaks; complete medication consent forms with guardians; participate in LACOE Nutrition consultant monitoring visits; travel to centers as needed.
Qualifications
Associate's degree, or a Family Development Credential and high school diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
One year of experience in a social service or educational setting involving Head Start and other programs that promote family and student engagement, required.
Bilingual English and Spanish, Tagalog, or Korean strongly preferred.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Valid CA Class C Driver’s License and valid auto insurance required.
Access to a reliable automobile.
Schedule, Location & Benefits
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 07:00 AM – 03:30 PM
Non-exempt, Full-time
Locations: Los Angeles, CA and Lynwood, CA (travel between sites; home visits may occur)
Salary & Benefits
Pay rate: $24.25 - $25.48/hour
