NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) . Job Summary: Responsible for the protection of Navy Exchange assets through investigative strategies and the auditing of controls designed to prevent and minimize loss potential. Responsibilities

Maintains surveillance throughout the Navy Exchange facilities as assigned to identify and detect suspicious activity contributing to both external and internal losses. Utilizes various surveillance techniques including overt and covert Closed Circuit Television systems. Detects and detains individuals suspected of shoplifting in accordance with NEXCOM Loss Prevention Safety (LPS) policies, procedures, and standards; investigates other suspected incidents of fraud, waste, and abuse as directed. Prepares case reports, investigative notes, and processes evidence in accordance with NEXCOM LPS standards. Conducts audits of cash registers, cash offices, retail inventory controls, and service operations as directed by the Loss Prevention Safety Manager or Supervisor. Performs investigative research related to cash variances and suspicious register transactions using ASPECT Point of Sale Exception Reporting Systems and the In-Store Processor, among other tools. Conducts Accident Investigations involving associates and customers per NEXCOM guidelines, including report writing and obtaining photographic evidence as necessary. Maintains confidentiality of all investigative research and case information; maintains physical security of facilities per procedures. Supports safety, security, and emergency procedures including fire safety systems, alarms, and potential workplace hazards; assists in evacuations and Force Protection measures as needed. Monitors Known Theft evidence, Lost & Found programs, and Access Control policies for assigned facilities. Assists with the destruction and disposal of merchandise in accordance with NEXCOM policies. Testifies as necessary in court or administrative hearings as required. Adheres to work schedules and maintains professional appearance and demeanor; complies with department dress code as prescribed. Promotes and adheres to NEXCOM LPS programs (e.g., Civil Recovery, YES for juvenile shoplifting, Code Adam, IDEAS Reward Program). Maintains knowledge of factors contributing to inventory shrinkage and current strategies to address shrinkage concerns; assists in LPS training and awareness initiatives for associates. Performs other related administrative and investigative duties as assigned. Qualifications

General Experience: 1 year of responsible experience in clerical, office, or retail store work demonstrating the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. Specialized Experience: 1 year of experience demonstrating knowledge of general law enforcement methods and techniques or investigative experience involving protection of property, equipment or materials and person-to-person relationships in enforcing rules and regulations. Substitution of Education for Experience: For 2 years of experience, 1 year of academic study above high school level including 6 semester hours in policy administration, police law, evidence, investigation, criminology, law enforcement, or similar subjects, may be substituted for each year of experience. Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Required. Candidates must be eligible for and obtain a Secret Clearance within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain may result in termination. Details
