Responsibilities Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 120-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent patients.

Residential Counselor provides direct individual and group treatment and other aspects of patient care to patients with psychiatric disorders, addictive disease disorders, or related substance abuse or chemical dependency problems; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu. The Residential Counselor is responsible for maintaining the overall milieu management and safety of patient and staff in the unit and collaborating effectively with supervisors and management.

Residential Counselor – Non-Degreed / Degreed High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor’s Degree with one year of health care experience required Full-time or PRN positions available

Compensation Without prior experience earn between $18-23 an hour.

Degreed up to an additional $4 per hour above base Increased rates for those with prior work experience in the medical, behavioral mental healthcare field, working with children and miliary services Shift Differentials: $2-5 Frequent opportunity for overtime

Work/Life Balance Work full time as few as 3 days per week Selection of 8, 12, or 16 hour shifts Available full time weekend shifts at only 36 hours

Job Duties / Responsibilities Completes non-clinical assignment tasks related to the admission, transfer and discharge process Assists patients with a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses in meeting immediate needs with the ultimate goal of self-maintenance under the direction of a supervisor Assists patients in carrying out established treatment programs by collaborating with other team members and by participating in ongoing multidisciplinary team meetings with supervisor to assist in reporting of patients' progress Documents and reports patient progress/regression Follows procedures which adhere to daily schedules, policies and practices prescribed by agency name
