Base pay range: $23.82/hr - $29.25/hr. Location: Multiple Locations, CA. Job Type: Full-Time. Department: County-Wide. This is the entry level in the Legal Procedures Clerk series. Incumbents perform a variety of routine clerical support work in processing legal and other official documents such as court actions, subpoenas, criminal warrants, and related duties. The eligible list created from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County. Responsibilities

Prepare and process legal documents and records through the office and courts, examining documents for sufficiency, completeness, conformity, validity; edit and correct errors; post information; reconcile records; affix seals and stamps; calendar cases and maintain court appearance schedules; prepare office recordings and notify agencies of required appearances. Assist the public in filling out or using forms, gather information, screen calls, relay messages, and explain fees or assessments. Direct individuals to appropriate offices and help locate materials or information. Respond to verbal and written inquiries regarding actions on submitted legal documents; prepare letters, notices, and service actions; prepare and serve civil process documents; check warrants and histories; set up arraignment files; run background checks and issue subpoenas. Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED. Three (3) months of full-time clerical work experience. Other Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate a net typing speed of 40 words per minute. Demonstration of these skills will be done during an online typing examination. Supplemental Information

Positions may require bilingual skills. Recruitment requirements may test typing, word processing, and/or data entry speed; these skills are not the primary measure in the selection process. Candidate will be subject to background investigation after contingent job offer. May require CLETS training and authorization. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license may be required. Independent travel may be required. May be flexibly staffed to the Legal Procedures Clerk Journey after one year of satisfactory performance, with Department Head approval.
