High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) Adjunct Instructor

Job Title: High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) Adjunct Instructor Reports To: Associate Dean of Adult and Career Technical Education Required Qualifications: BA degree in education or related field Training or endorsements in high school reading, science, and math Experience working with non-traditional adults Preferred Qualifications: MA in Adult Education or related field Three years of teaching, ABE/ASE, teacher certification in math, science, and reading Job Summary: Teach Adult Basic and Adult Secondary Education classes in math, reading, science, and social studies to prepare students for a high school equivalency certificate exam (GED). Design and implement educational activities to assist students in meeting their goals. Specific Job Duties: Use multiple assessment measures to evaluate student learning Attend required in-service activities Maintain a plan for continued professional growth and document results Utilize departmental syllabus template and approved textbooks Submit personalized course syllabus to Deans’ Office Distribute and review comprehensive course syllabus to students Adhere to printed course schedule meeting times and locations Obtain prior approval for any substitute teachers or guest speakers Maintain grade book and record student attendance Submit accurate and certified Tenth Day Attendance Verification and Mid-Semester Class Roster Respond to e-mails from students, staff, and college administrators in a timely manner Salary Range: TBD according to Adjunct Faculty Contract Morton College is dedicated to diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
