English interpreters
to support ourOver-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services. This role focuses on medical, legal,government, education, insurance, and community interpreting. You will be working remotely through ourQuacko-Intelligence platform as an independent contractor with flexible scheduling based on demand. Key Responsibilities
Provide accurate, professional, and impartial interpreting between Cape Verdean Creole and English (OPI/VRI). Follow industry standards including confidentiality, first-person interpreting, and turn-taking protocols. Support sensitive healthcare and legal conversations while respecting HIPAA and cultural nuances. Maintain a professional environment with excellent audio/video quality. Be reliable and punctual for scheduled assignments, with flexibility to cover peak hours. Minimum Qualifications
Fluency
in Cape Verdean Creole and English (native-level in at least one language). 3+ years
of professional
medical and/or legal interpreting
experience (OPI/VRI required). Strong knowledge of medical, legal, and community terminology; ability to perform sight translation. Proof of
language proficiency
in English and all working languages (CEFR C1/ILR Advanced or EF SET ≥85%). Completion of a
medical interpreter training program (40 hours or more) . Understanding and commitment to ethics: confidentiality, impartiality, and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications
Legal terminology training or certification. Additional specialized interpreter training or national certification (if available). Experience working with contact centers, telehealth platforms, or large-scale LSPs. Professional
USB headset
with noise-canceling microphone. HD webcam for video interpreting. Reliable high-speed internet (wired connection preferred). Quiet, private workspace with solid background (black collared shirt required for VRI sessions). Additional Requirements (U.S.-Based Interpreters)
7-year nationwide background check. OIG (Office of Inspector General) monthly check. SAM (System for Award Management) monthly check. Updated Fraud, Waste & Abuse (FWA) training certificate. Updated HIPAA compliance training certificate (annual). Proof of U.S. work permit or residency (if applicable). How to Apply
