Job Summary The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides general and specialty medical and/or surgical services to individuals, families, and groups, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic diseases. The APP will practice autonomously and collaboratively within their established scope. All TGH team members are responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Responsibilities
Daily inpatient rounding and associated documentation.
Consultations and evaluation of patients with thoracic surgery diagnoses.
Assist in surgical procedures in the operating room.
Initial evaluation and follow-up of pre- and post-surgical patients in the outpatient setting.
Pre- and post-operative evaluation of thoracic surgery patients.
Communicate with primary and multidisciplinary teams to manage complex patients.
Request, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and laboratory tests, taking appropriate actions as indicated.
Identify and report signs, symptoms, problems, or potential issues requiring further assessment or intervention.
Work autonomously and collaboratively to diagnose and manage patient healthcare problems.
Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrate current knowledge and expertise utilizing evidence-based practice, infection control standards, and clinical evaluations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (preferably Epic).
Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
Qualifications
Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in Florida.
Physician Assistant Board Certification or Acute Care/Adult Gerontology Acute Care certification.
Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certification required for APRNs.
National certification for PAs.
Experience in endovascular and general surgery is strongly preferred.
