The City of Columbia Falls is recruiting for a new Patrol Officer. The Patrol Officer performs police patrol, investigations, traffic regulation, and related community policing activities within our city of approximately 5,700 people.
The CFPD’s mission is to provide exceptional law enforcement services to ensure Columbia Falls is a safe community to live, work, and play.
The Police Department currently has twelve sworn officers including the Chief, two Sergeants, one Detective, a School Resource Officer, and seven Patrol Officers.
Starting wage is $27.58 per hour without prior experience or a degree. There are annual step increases, additional stipends, and room for advancement per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The City offers an exceptional benefit package that includes health, vision, and dental insurance; current city contribution is 90% of the cost, $1,200 annual uniform allowance, MPORS, and excellent training opportunities.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid Montana Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within 6 months of appointment, and have no felony convictions. Applicants must be able to pass a written exam, oral interview, physical fitness exam, psychological exam, medical exam, drug screening, and an extensive background investigation. Applications will be accepted for both entry and lateral applicants; POST-certified applicants are exempt from the written exam. Lateral applicants and military members are encouraged to apply.
