The Technologist performs specialized production duties to maintain and monitor the health, production, and physical environment of animals within isolators, micro-isolator cages, or barrier rooms. Provides training to departmental staff on all technical skills and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform husbandry tasks, including supplying food, bedding, water, and environmental enrichment. Maintain rat and mouse colonies, including setting up matings, weaning, sexing offspring, genetic sampling, and processing samples. Handle rodents (mice and rats), including restraining for sample collection and tagging animals. Observe animals for abnormalities or health issues. Identify and select animals for shipments, genotyping, health monitoring, matings, or transfers. Follow all SOPs and animal welfare standards, ensuring biosecurity and isolator integrity. Manage complex projects, enter accurate data into Internet Colony Management (ICM), and ensure compliance with laws. Collaborate with others to train and mentor, organize daily tasks, and perform housekeeping and safety procedures. Use computer skills and learn required software (ICM, Microsoft Office). Engage in studies, projects, and efficiency improvements. Identify issues and suggest solutions to management. Apply CRL DNA into daily work and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D., higher education preferred. 2-4 years of related experience or training. Competent with tablets for data entry and communication. Respect for and ability to engage with diverse cultures. Clear and effective communication skills. High initiative and ability to work independently. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications
