Part-Time Woodworking & Outdoor Education Teacher
to join our vibrant school community. This role includes leading woodworking classes for grades 5–8 while integrating an outdoor education component that connects students with nature, practical skills, and experiential learning. The ideal candidate understands child development and can design lessons that balance form, function, and beauty while offering pedagogical lessons appropriate toeach child’s stage of growth. About
Marin Waldorf School offers a comprehensive educational experience through its vibrant parent/toddler program, two preschools, two kindergartens, and a full grades program (grades 1–8). Our 10-acre campus includes a beautiful oak grove, biodynamic garden, very large grass playing field, multiple play areas, gardens, a library and a woodwork studio. Our expanded curriculum includes Woodwork, handwork, instrumental music, orchestra, choir, physical, outdoor, environmental and ecology education, gardening, Eurythmy, Spanish, and Mandarin. MWS is located in the heart of beautiful Marin County, California, just 25-40 minutes from San Francisco, Sonoma, Berkeley, Santa Rosa. Our county is renowned for its beaches,hiking trails, and giant Redwood trees. Key Responsibilities: Woodworking Program: Guide grade 5-8 students in projects that promote artistic conception, spatial awareness, and practical skills. Sample projects include carving a spoon, transforming a wood block into an organic form, building a mechanical toy, and creating a shelf using traditional joinery. Lead outdoor learning experiences that connect students to nature, environmental awareness, and practical skills. Incorporate hands-on projects and activities that reinforce classroom learning. Qualifications
Qualifications & Attributes: Background in woodworking and/or outdoor education. Enthusiasm for hands-on teaching and dedication to skill development. Ability to work with children of varying abilities and interests. Collaborative, supportive, and flexible team player. Having Waldorf education background or experience will be a bonus but not a must.
