The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive health assessments and evaluations for patients in the clinic under the supervision of the medical director. This position delivers healthcare services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a physician, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. The APP works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care. The APP orders and interprets appropriate tests such as labs, EKGs, and X-rays under physician supervision.

Responsibilities

Assess patient status by obtaining health history through interviews and chart reviews; evaluate presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychosocial, and cultural factors; perform appropriate examinations.

Order or perform laboratory diagnostic and screening tests. Seek additional information as needed, including consultation with physicians for illness evaluation. Integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of health risks.

Develop and implement treatment plans by prescribing or dispensing medications and injections in accordance with medical guidelines and state laws.

Instruct and counsel patients on medication adherence, growth and development, family planning, emotional health, and health maintenance.

Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in ensuring continuity of care.

Collaborate with physicians to manage acute and long-term medical needs. Provide monitoring and continuity of care between visits, including triaging patient calls and emails.

If applicable, function as a 'First Assist' to the physician in the operating room, as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing required.

Master's Degree in Physician Studies required.

0-1 year relevant experience in developing and managing patient care programs (preferred).

Licenses and Certifications

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida upon hire required.

PA license in the State of Florida required.

BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association upon hire required.
