Fiber Optic Field Support Specialist Part-Time

Key Responsibilities
Provide after the sale training and field support of Corning Optical Communications fiber optic cable and hardware installations (Inside Plant and Outside Plant). Actively pursue competitive information and report back to Sales. Support field trials and product evaluations for fiber optic cable and hardware installations. Support Sales demonstrations/presentations and trade shows Support Data Center and fiber to the home (FTTH) installations Perform training, troubleshooting and field support for both single and ribbon fiber splicing. Teach Tier 1 (light source and power meter) and Tier 2 (OTDR) fiber optic cable field testing applications. Instruct fiber optic installation classes up to 25 students as a qualified instructor or a technical assist role. Education/Experiences/Skills - Required
Technical degree or equivalent work experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Fiber Optics Possess a driver’s license and be insurable. Work independently with little or no supervision. Able and willing to travel 50% of the time. Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company. Spanish a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products Location and Travel Requirements
Based anywhere within the state of Texas Will travel 50% of the time within Texas The range for this position is $35.00 hourly rate - $40.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
