Position Summary
The Behavioral Interventionist will develop, implement, and document plans of accommodations for campers, provide extra hands-on assistance, observe campers’ mental and physical health, and assist in direct support of campers, including social-emotional regulation, communication skills, motor skills, and self-help.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and document a plan of accommodations for campers. Adhere to assignments made by the Leadership Team to support campers/groups. Provide extra hands-on assistance to specific campers and/or groups of campers. Observe campers’ mental and physical health and refer concerns to the Leadership Team. Accompany campers to activities and assist group leaders and instructors as needed. Administrative
Contribute relevant feedback/information on camper progress. Document assessments and interventions clearly and accurately. Complete Accident Reports, Incident Reports, and Child Abuse/Neglect forms as needed. Programmatic
Provide general supervision, risk management, and downtime/recreational activities for youth participants. Ensure campers have safe and appropriate equipment, facilities, and supplies. Account for all campers and conduct group headcounts regularly. Miscellaneous
Develop age-appropriate relationships with campers. Display appropriate behavior around campers, parents, and staff. Accept constructive feedback and make necessary corrections. Required Qualifications
At least one year of previous experience working in recreational or educational programs for youth. Service orientation, sound judgment, and decision-making skills. Verbal and written communication skills in English, active listening, critical thinking, and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in Child Psychology, Child Development, Education, and/or Social Service fields. Some college or Associate Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree. Knowledge of UC Berkeley’s campus policies and procedures. Salary & Benefits This is a 3-4 month, part-time (12 hours/week), contract appointment. The budgeted hourly range is $22.00 - $23.00.
