In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. Job Description:
Research Technician - Theresa Wampler-Muskardin Lab Department/Service : Research Institute, Rheumatology Job Start Date : ASAP Specific Duties
Administration: (10%) Maintain standard operating protocols, list of reagents, study initiatives, assist with IACUC applications Supervises and trains undergraduate students, medical students and residents in standard operating protocols Provides weekly update at laboratory meetings Autoimmunity Research (90%) Works closely with Principal Investigator in the design and execution of translational studies in autoimmune disease. Performs in vitro studies, including growing human cell lines and primary cells, with subsequent analysis of gene and protein expression. Studies may also include genotyping, flow cytometry, and in vivo mouse experiments. Animal studies will incorporate use of mouse models of autoimmunity. Technician will assist in surgical procedures, provide animal care, and tissue harvesting techniques and post euthanasia processing. Clinical studies will involve interaction with the clinical coordinators for collection of patient samples, and processing the samples. The technician will interact with the research clinical coordinator and research assistants to cross-reference laboratory studies with clinical variables and outcomes. Education
Bachelor’s Degree, biology, chemistry, or other relevant biomedical area Skills Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong customer service orientation Proficient use of computers and software Experience in human cell culture and cell purifications preferred Experience in murine handling and experiments preferred Skills Preferred
Knowledge of Orthopedic and/or Rheumatologic terminology is a plus Non-Discrimination Policy
