Swim Aide Position Type : Non-Exempt (Hourly) Position Summary :

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for assisting certified YSL Aquatic Instructors during lessons. This position works only under the supervision of a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor. Key Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities / Principal Activities : Assist aquatics instructors during swim classes. Be prepared for class by having all equipment available and ready prior to swim class. Assist in putting away all equipment after swim classes. Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times. Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times. Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand individual goals and interests, and assist in achieving those goals. Attend mandatory monthly in-service training and biannual association trainings. May be required to work one-on-one with individual students during group classes. Perform all other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise Education and Experience : Swim Aide is for individuals aged 15 years to 15 years and 11 months. No prior experience necessary. Physical Demands : Must be physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff. May be required to be in the pool for extended periods. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Work Environment : The noise level is usually moderate to high. Shifts vary and may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Benefits Why work at the Y?
