Job title: Field Lead Technician (internally: Home Energy Specialist (HES) Lead Technician). The role helps homeowners become more energy efficient by performing Energize CT Energy Assessments. The position involves modeling homes in energy efficiency software, diagnosing energy usage problems, and recommending energy saving measures such as insulation, windows, and high-efficiency heating and cooling.
Responsibilities
Conduct Energize CT home energy assessments.
Utilize energy efficiency software to model homes and generate comprehensive energy savings reports.
Test homes with diagnostic equipment such as Blower Doors, Duct Blasters, Trueflow, and combustion safety tests.
Recommend energy-saving measures such as insulation, windows, and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
Sales and Customer Service: confirm customer interest in add-on measures, provide exceptional customer service, educate homeowners on energy efficiency benefits, use effective sales techniques to ensure customer satisfaction and generate referrals, and organize customer paperwork.
Installation and Documentation: install low flow water fixtures, apply pipe wrap insulation where applicable, manually seal leaky ductwork, assist with blower door guided air sealing when possible, and complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
Professional Development and Collaboration: continually improve product knowledge and sales skills, stay informed on energy-saving options and technologies, collaborate with internal divisions to cross-sell products and services, mentor and supervise an assistant technician, and perform additional tasks as required.
Education & Experience
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Lead Tech certified or previous Lead Tech certification through Energize CT program.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong organization and time management skills.
Must work independently as the role is primarily field based.
Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
Outgoing, flexible, and personable demeanor.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Supervisory Responsibilities This is a supervisory role that may include overseeing the work performed by an assistant technician.
Work Environment & Travel Customer settings: This position is based in customer settings and will require work indoors and outdoors, including attics, basements, small confined spaces, and rooftops. The role is hybrid/remote and may require occasional travel to the Fairfield, CT office. A company vehicle is provided or travel may be done in a personal vehicle.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, bend, crawl, or kneel in confined spaces; may lift up to 60 pounds; able to climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, stand on roofs, and move up and down stairs safely.
