Description

This person will function as a member of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, who in turn reports to the Dean of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Examples of Duties

Administration Assists in the administrative functions of the Department of Otolaryngology working with the chair to develop systems of supervision and evaluation of residents and medical students. Represents the Department in Departmental, School, University, and community matters in the chairman's absence. Helps develop specialized clinics related to the field of Otolaryngology where appropriate in conjunction with the School of Medicine. Teaching Serves as a role model in the teaching of otolaryngology to students. Develops and implements programs in Otolaryngology for national distribution. Develops and implements evaluation methods for students, residents in Otolaryngology, and other residents rotating through Otolaryngology. Supervises research by medical students, residents in Otolaryngology. Research Promotes research and scholarly activities within the Department by example and encouragement. Service Demonstrates commitment to the mission and standards of SIU School of Medicine through actions. Provides excellent service to internal and external customers through collaboration, compassion, respect, integrity, accountability, diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning. Sets an example as a highly skilled and conscientious Otolaryngology practitioner, maintaining clinical proficiency. Serves as a role model for the practice of the specialty to faculty, students, and practitioners. Attends national meetings, symposia, and committees related to Otolaryngology. Presents papers and lectures at relevant meetings. Serves on relevant committees of national, regional, and state societies. Represents the Department on committees as requested by the Chair. Qualifications

Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. Graduate of an accredited medical school program. Successful completion of a Urology residency program. Licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Illinois.
