Position Summary The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business and maintaining relationships with existing customers in the construction, remodeling, and home improvement industries. This role requires a self‑motivated, customer‑focused individual who can identify opportunities, provide expert product knowledge, and deliver value‑added solutions to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, remodelers, and other trade professionals.
Promote and sell Reading Lumber’s full line of building materials, including lumber, siding, roofing, windows, doors, and specialty products.
Conduct regular site visits to assess customer needs, provide quotes, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
Prepare and follow up on estimates, bids, and proposals.
Collaborate with inside sales, purchasing, and delivery teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain a thorough understanding of product lines, pricing, and market trends.
Achieve or exceed monthly and annual sales goals.
Represent Reading Lumber professionally at trade shows, networking events, and customer appreciation events.
Resolve customer issues quickly and effectively, ensuring long‑term satisfaction.
Qualifications
Proven experience in building materials sales, construction supply, or a related field (preferred).
Strong knowledge of lumber, roofing, siding, windows, doors, and other building products.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Highly motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
Valid driver’s license.
Competitive base salary plus commission.
