Developmental English- Adjunct Faculty (Part-time Adjunct Faculty) – Varies between campuses. Adjunct Faculty are tasked with providing high-quality instruction and assessing student learning through formative and summative methods. This role requires exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively utilize instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning. Reporting to the Dean, Adjunct Faculty will prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments tailored to different learning styles, ensuring that students meet course objectives and outcomes. They will apply learner-centered principles and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for evaluating student performance and maintaining timely and accurate records, including attendance verifications, academic progress, and final course grades. Successful Adjunct Faculty adopt a holistic approach to student success, collaborating effectively with students and colleagues, and working constructively with individuals from diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities. They demonstrate sensitivity to and the ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Courses
Applicants must have experiences and availability (in-person) teaching the following courses: ENG080.002 Reading/Writing Fundamentals, Tuesday/Thursdays 11:00 am-12:15 pm ENG085.004 Basic Integrated Reading/Writing, Monday/Wednesdays 12:30 pm- 2:45 pm Responsibilities
Design syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the established course description as well as program, course, and college learning outcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student’s needs as diverse learners. Meet all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and data collection for assessment of student learning. Incorporate learner-centered principles and concepts while motivating students to actively participate in their educational experiences. Integrate instructional and classroom technology (if applicable) appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning. Work collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs of students and the community. Model professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in English, English Education or Reading from an accredited college. Competency in technologies commonly used in college-level instruction (Canvas & Zoom). Experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in English, English Education or Reading Experience teaching Developmental English at a community college or university. Experience with ELL students. Teaching traditionally underserved populations. Incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learning process. Teaching in multiple instructional modalities. Utilizing Learning Management Systems. Application Materials
