Overview
Director of MFA Film role at Inside Higher Ed. This position is hosted by the University of Georgia within Grady College and reports to the dean. The Director oversees the MFA Film program to direct, produce, and script development while managing recruitment, curriculum, scheduling, and program operations. Responsibilities
Serve as the academic and production facilitator for the MFA program with a focus on directing, producing, and screenwriting. Oversee all aspects of the program, including student recruitment, application processing, and matriculation. Coordinate academic spaces on campus and at the Studio Production Learning Center at Athena Studios in Athens. Oversee equipment purchases and repairs, curricula, class schedules, and faculty appointments (including hiring of part-time instructors with consultation from full-time faculty). Manage administrative tasks from orientation through convocation and liaise with partners such as the Georgia Film Academy and other sponsors. Teach one to two classes per semester in the program as needed. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: All candidates must have an MFA or Ph.D. in film and/or media production or a related discipline. Additional Requirements: Candidates without a terminal degree must document exceptional accomplishments and obtain a terminal degree exception before hire. Applicants must be currently eligible to work in the United States. Position-specific requirements: This position is a Position of Trust with operation or control of financial resources; it requires security access. A P-Card is not required, and driving is not a primary responsibility. This role may have direct interaction or care of individuals under 18 or direct patient care is not applicable.
