Teach a part-time schedule of Political Science courses as assigned. Use a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats. Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff. Apply effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhere to approved curriculum outlines of record. Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, assignments, oral responses, etc., aligned with course objectives. Provide course syllabi to students and maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy. Submit all required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner. Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed. Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom. Master’s in political science, government, or international relations; or Bachelor’s in any of the above and Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, or any ethnic studies, Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.); or A valid California Community College Credential; or The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency). Note: If degrees do not match exactly, petition for equivalency. Desirable Qualifications

Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities. Recent experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education. Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices for racially minoritized students. Experience with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities. Experience supporting underrepresented student populations and fostering cross-cultural communication. Collaborative work with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success. Ability to work with computers and educational technologies; effective communication with students and staff. Knowledge of current assessment methods and community college mission and goals. Salary and Benefits

Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule. Salary placements are based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours. Selection Procedure
