Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - SOM Med Oncology

Overview

This role includes functioning as a Nurse Practitioner within the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing high quality, cost effective care in collaboration with a supervising physician, and adhering to the organization\'s mission, vision, values, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical - Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests/results, develop differential diagnoses, and implement treatment plans including prescribing/ordering evidence-based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging. Schedule appropriate follow-up management and participate in projects to improve productivity. Maintain comprehensive records and up-to-date knowledge of general disease processes and specialty literature. Prioritize work and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Education - Educate clients and/or families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up; collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family-centered care; develop educational materials; provide education to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students; identify and pursue self-learning needs; attend education programs as needed.
Leadership - Provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students; participate in community/network outreach programs; develop and lead outreach programs; apply knowledge of healthcare contexts to improve and optimize delivery; lead or participate in system improvements.
Professional - Interact respectfully and timely with patients, families, and the healthcare team; collaborate with coworkers and staff; respond quickly to meet customer needs; accept responsibility for outcomes and share workload with the team.
Quality/Research - Engage in daily continuous quality improvement; consult with management on assessment, problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluating clinical/system issues; lead interdisciplinary teams; initiate and revise protocols to reflect evidence-based care; influence policy-making to improve patient care; develop new clinical programs or services.
Education, Licensure and Certifications Education Requirements:
Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina; board certification if required by the Department; DEA registration.
Professional Experience Requirements:
No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated clinical competency; effective leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills; ability to document accurately for billing.
