Summary:

The job of Classroom Teacher is to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with teachers, professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborates with all stakeholders to establish and maintain positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.

Designs instruction, including lesson plans, individualized instruction, and accommodation of diverse learning styles/needs.

Develops and guides learning in partnership with students, aligning with state and district standards.

Evaluates individual student and class performance, adjusting instruction to improve outcomes.

Implements best practice instruction and resources aligned with state and district standards.

Maintains documentation and required reports, complying with site, district, policy, administrative, state and federal regulations.

Manages classroom structure and procedures, establishing a positive, safe and orderly learning environment.

Models positive behaviors, promoting appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.

Oversees assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers or student workers to support classroom and individual goals.

Participates in meetings to convey and gather information.

Responds to emergency situations, resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel.

Other Duties Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required.

Current Louisiana teacher certification.
