Criminal Investigator III – Central City, Gaming Division
The Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) is committed to protecting the integrity of Colorado’s limited gaming industry. The Criminal Investigator III will perform comprehensive investigations, enforce gaming regulations, and provide educational services to licensees and the public.
Responsibilities
Plan and conduct complex criminal and regulatory investigations of limited gaming violations.
Interview witnesses, suspects, and complainants; conduct covert surveillance and interrogations.
Prepare arrest warrants, case files, and court testimony for criminal, civil, and administrative actions.
Collaborate with local police, state agencies, and other investigators; lead covert operations when required.
Inspect gaming facilities, enforce internal control minimum procedures, and initiate disciplinary actions per state licensing authority.
Provide training and presentations to local authorities, licensees, and the public; maintain proficiency with firearms and defensive tactics equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years of investigative experience conducting criminal and regulatory investigations in a gaming or similar environment.
Valid Colorado P.O.S.T. certification and current driver’s license.
Ability to pass a background investigation, tax check, and psychological evaluation.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Willingness to work nights, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on‑call status.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience enforcing Colorado gaming regulations and internal control procedures.
Recent investigation experience interpreting statutes and researching databases.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and law‑enforcement software tools.
