Benefits : Flexible schedule Opportunity for advancement Training & development We are seeking Tamil Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Tamil is a critical South Asian language, widely spoken in India, Sri Lanka, and the global Tamil diaspora, and is often required for asylum and immigration cases. Responsibilities : Provide real-time Tamil - English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders. Deliver interpretation with accuracy, neutrality, and confidentiality in immigration and legal contexts. Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and compliance standards. Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews. Qualifications : Native or near-native fluency in Tamil and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, medical, community, or government preferred). Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness. Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance. Compensation & Benefits : Competitive pay: $25–32/hour (rare-language premium available). Remote work with secure USCIS-approved systems. Paid training and ongoing professional development. Steady workload under a federal contract.
