Overview

Advanced Practice Provider, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. The Department of Surgery seeks an experienced APRN or PA to join the SICU, dedicated to inpatient care for trauma, general surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, and other surgical sub-specialties. The APP will work with a multidisciplinary team and should be willing to collaborate in a fast-paced, critically ill surgical patient population. This role is dynamic with a high degree of autonomy in managing patients. In conjunction with the attending physician, the APP will supervise a team that may include a medical resident, medical students, APP residents, and APP students. Training includes independently performing invasive procedures (intubation, bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, central line placement, arterial line placement) and overseeing others performing these procedures. The APP will collaborate with senior medical and surgical residents and critical care fellows to care for this diverse patient population. Excellent communication is essential; patients are co-managed by a surgical subspecialty team. Additional opportunities include didactic education content, quality improvement projects, journal club, and research projects. Experience in Critical Care is required; completion of a Critical Care residency is preferred. The position is full-time, salaried, benefited, with day and night shifts and rotating weekend coverage. A faculty appointment at the level of Instructor through Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be requested. Dartmouth Health offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, malpractice insurance, retirement plan, and CME allowance.
