Summary:
Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
Responsibilities:
Provides swim instruction based on the curriculum. Enforces safety rules, prevents accidents, makes rescues, and administers first aid when necessary. Evaluates students’ progress and completes required paperwork promptly. Interacts with parents/guardians regarding students’ swim skills and progress. Acts as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction. Uses problem-solving and creative thinking to resolve student challenges. Inspects pool areas before and after classes for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues; reports as needed. Maintains proper storage of pool equipment and manages lane lines. Reports accidents/incidents and completes documentation. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed. Performs light cleaning tasks such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal. Attends mandatory workshops and training outside regular hours. Fulfills other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider required. At least two years as a swimming instructor required. Swimming experience is a plus.
Certificates & Licenses:
Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required. Shallow water attendant certification highly recommended.
Work Environment:
Regular exposure to heat and humidity. Moderate noise level.
