Job Description:

The Women’s and Infants service line at JohnPeter Smith Hospital is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to women’s healthcare, providing services from preventive care to high-risk obstetrics, menopause, urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology. The team delivers approximately 4,000 babies annually. Our Advanced Practice Providers, including nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives, work closely with physicians to provide excellent care, foster meaningful patient relationships, and support our healthcare mission.

Position Details:

Monday - Thursday (10-hour day shift)

Focus on well woman, problem gynecology, and obstetrics

Serve a diverse patient population with complex conditions

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Collaborate with physicians to oversee and coordinate patient care.

Review patient charts to assist with diagnosis and treatment.

Make appropriate referrals.

Ensure care delivery complies with JPS and Acclaim guidelines.

Provide patient and family education.

Deliver evidence-based, compassionate care to improve outcomes and satisfaction.

Maintain a collaborative environment with healthcare team members.

Support academic, educational, and research activities.

Participate in Performance Improvement and Peer Review meetings.

Serve as a community resource.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

1-2 years of experience as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife.

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

Graduate of an accredited Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife program.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

Unencumbered licensure as an APRN in Texas or reciprocity proof.

Current national certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife by AMCB or ACNM.
