Lecturer Pool – Public Policy and Administration POSITION DETAILS: Possible part-time openings for 2025-26 AY: PPA 230, Public Budgeting and Finance PPA 270, Introduction to Collaborative Policy Making PPA 272, Collaborative Governance Advanced Practice PPA 297 A/B, Executive Fellows * Please refer to the course catalog for course descriptions: The duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. They assist students in understanding political factors affecting the policy process, with emphasis on California's political environment, using case studies and role-playing. The goal is to prepare students as politically aware policy analysts. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Course assignments are made by the Department Chair under the College Dean's guidance. Part-time lecturers are conditional instructional faculty appointments, made based on departmental needs, enrollment, and budget. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with possible renewal based on performance, funding, and needs. Appointments are often made just prior to the semester start. Rank and Salary Initial rank and salary depend on professional experience and educational background, determined by the department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, salary ranges are based on a full-time rate (15 WTUs), paid in six installments. For example, a Lecturer A assigned 3 units at the minimum salary would earn approximately $6,608.40 for the semester. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree with at least three (3) years of related professional experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree with at least five (5) years of related professional experience.
