Assistant/Associate Professor, Occupational Therapy
The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor beginning Spring 2026. Applicants must have a research or clinical doctorate in occupational therapy or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. Must have licensure in Kentucky and initial NBCOT certification at the time of appointment. The position begins January 2026.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in occupational science and occupational therapy, including in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, including research, presentations, and service to the department, university, and community.
Advise students and participate in departmental, campus, and university committees.
Demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence relevant to the discipline and pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
Research or clinical doctorate in occupational therapy or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.
Licensure in Kentucky and initial NBCOT certification at the time of appointment.
Knowledge of current practices in occupational science and occupational therapy.
Effective interpersonal communication skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Analytic and problem solving skills.
Active and effective listening skills.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching at the college or university level.
A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in community-based practice, behavioral health, and/or pediatrics.
Evidence of potential research/scholarship agenda and experience supervising student research.
Job Duties
Maintain a 4/4 teaching load, teaching courses as assigned in areas of expertise.
Utilize innovative teaching methods, teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures to meet the needs of EKU students.
Develop and maintain an active research agenda.
Keep up to date with current scholarly or creative works and attend conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities.
Advise students in fulfilling program, departmental, college, and university committee assignments.
Work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community.
