Center for Human Development, (CHD), is currently looking for a Senior Direct Care staff to join our new Enhanced Medical Group Living Environment (EMGLE) program. Our new 18-bed facility in East Longmeadow, MA allows you the ability to provide quality care and support to those we serve with a small client ratio. You will work alongside a supportive team of LPN’s, CNA’s, and Direct Care staff providing care and compassion all the while gaining valuable experience in CHD’s modern EMGLE facility. A LITTLE ABOUT THE EMGLE FACILITY: The Enhanced Medical GLE (EMGLE) provides a variety of skilled healthcare and supportive services including around the clock nursing and personal care assistance to Persons with mental illness in addition to compounding medical needs. In this role, you will be able to put your experience in Direct Care to good use, and get to bring your creative side to the team. We are looking for a Senior Direct Care Professional, to bring the fun as you plan, organize, and oversee activities and events for the population served. You will help promote others to expand their personal interest, increase physical activity and let their creative side flourish as you help support overall activity goals. A competitive hourly wage of $21.00 and an attractive benefit package are available with this Senior Direct Care opportunity. YOUR ROLE AS A SENIOR DIRECT CARE YOU WILL: Cleaning of overall facility/rooms. Provides activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding Persons as necessary; ambulating, Provides comfort to Persons by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; reporting observations of the patient to the nursing team. Assist in coordination, facilitating a group or an out of program activity. Transportation of persons served, as needed in program van. Small amount of case management, specifically supporting residents with obtaining benefits such as EBT Snap, SSDI, SSI, health insurance, etc. Qualifications: CPR and First Aid certified, preferred. Valid driver’s license, with acceptable driving history. A clear and clean criminal history. Meeting physical demands of the role. IE: Ability to lift 45 lbs. or more, stocking supplies, exercising groups, extended periods of walking and/or standing. Participate and successfully complete training requirements in compliance with CHD and the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. SUCCESS FACTORS: Enthusiasm and passion for the work they do. Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment. Ability to lead groups. Able to organize activities. Ideal candidate will have a background in art, and recreation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong written skills and experience with Electronic Health Record Management is a plus. Maintain safe work operations by following policies and procedures.
