Job Summary
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Program offers college students paid on‑the‑job training in non‑enforcement activities. Cadets work part‑time, may be assigned to Civil, Property, Front Desk/Reception units, and are eligible for agency benefits. Cadets serve a maximum of 4.5 years or three months after graduating from a two‑year or four‑year institution. Responsibilities
Perform paraprofessional office and field support duties under supervision of a sworn member or civilian personnel. Serve civil papers, support evidence units, and complete front desk tasks such as fingerprinting, mailing, and license application processing. Work various shifts—split shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays—as needed without interfering with school schedules. Maintain confidentiality, follow written and verbal instructions, and use computer systems and databases related to the justice system. Qualifications
Citizen of the United States or lawful permanent resident. At least 18 years of age at the time of application and hire. High school graduate with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Enrolled in an accredited college or university at the time of appointment. Declared major in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or a related field (e.g., Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration). Maintain at least 9 college credit hours per quarter (except summer term). Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher while serving as a cadet. Maintain a valid driver’s license. No criminal convictions that would preclude law‑enforcement service. Provide a letter of recommendation from the Criminal Justice Coordinator, a professor, an academic advisor, or a high‑school teacher if newly enrolled. Pass the Sheriff's Office multi‑phase examination, including oral interviews, background investigation, polygraph, and drug screen. Selection Process
